This Blog is created for the Milpitas Speed Team. It contains how practice goes, stories, training observations and best of all some of my favorite team members "Dilbert Moments". I hope you enjoy... please comment a much as possible.
And I just found out from one of our newer skaters in the league (Janet) that she didn't know that in addition to being the competitive steward i'm a coach for Milpitas... a direct quote from her... "I thought you just held the jewelry for the skaters" man! how's that for a compliment!
A quick note from the cell phone while taking some pics... racing going well and fast. Nastassia just finished her racing for division... while not what im sure she was hoping for I think she skated well.
I'll start posting some of the falls and slips that i've caught from my little vantage point.
The first one, one of the best in my opinion is Erin doing... well something Weird and going down... but not just down, but flat and across scaring the death outta the following two other world class ladies.
Well nationals has been been pretty decent so far. the turnout has been good with not too many heats being compressed into semis or finals.
On other news Nastassia has skated prpbably the best I've ever seen. The speed committee met and decided that current qualifiers for worlds could skate their original divisions. so nastassia skated junior ladies and is so far doing good from what she has in the past.
kendal sword is also skating very well, the girls in here finals have been very fast and kendal has been holding her own.
soooo there you have it so far... its been pretty good and fun. I'll check in later.
Here we are in the civic center during warm ups. since were bored im gonna start blogging from the stand since I can't take pics from the ground level for some assanine reason
Without going into it greatly... since I need the sleep... My trip from California to Illinois just took almost 16 HOURS!! Ill update later but Im hitting the hay!
And thats it for now till about 6:00pm local when the athletes will be back for the 1000m Finals and 15k finals.
There was some interesting racing today form what I saw in the results... There were people who I expected to be in there for finals or even semis and surprisingly didnt make it. Im not just speaking to the US contingent but the field as a whole I was surprised by a number of placements to say the least.
Still trying to get a hold of some video but no one seems to have uploaded anything if and when I find some I'll post it under the relevant posts for that distance.
Since I am getting up at the ass crack of dawn to make my way to SFO for the US National Indoor Championships this little blog will be devoid of updates till I get into the hotel but, fear not both the world games official site and Pantin Carrera site are great sources of info.
Stay tuned for more updates later next week for indoor action!
